In the surprise raids that started at 5am and ended at 10am, the police found 82 criminals in their houses.

They were brought to the jurisdictional police stations for interrogation. While pending warrants were executed against some of them, others were released after interrogation.

The raids were conducted against those who have been released on bail, said Dayananda B, joint commissioner of police (crime), East. The jurisdictional assistant commissioners of police (ACPs) led the teams, along with the police inspectors.

Lethal weapons and documents related to real estate dealings were seized from some criminals.

The police raid also found that some anti-social elements have changed their residential address.

The raids were carried out to check if the criminals were involved in anti-social activities.

Such raids will be conducted regularly to curb the city’s crime rate, said the police.

Police commissioner BG Jyothi Prakash Mirji has warned that cases will be registered against those who seek the help of anti-social elements to solve their problems.
