While investigating a murder, the Central Crime Branch police stumbled upon a person who was allegedly involved in a murder that took place in Andhra Pradesh in 2005. The police said Syed Jabiulla alias Babu, 38, a resident of Noor Nagar in Kolar, committed the murder in Thavanampalli, Chittor.

A charred body was found in a forest near Thambukoppam village in Thavanampalli taluk in January 2005. The investigation reached a dead-end as the body could not be identified, except for the fact that the deceased was a male. The police later filed a report stating the body could not be identified and closed the case.

The organised crime wing of the CCB, while investigating a murder that took place in Bangalore, suspected Babu's involvement and arrested him in Kolar on November 12. During interrogation, it became clear that he was not involved in the case they were pursuing, but in the murder committed in 2005.
Babu, a mango dealer in Kolar, had killed Pyarejan after a row over an affair he had with the latter's wife. Babu alleged that Pyarejan was blackmailing him.

Babu, who has two children, was having an affair with Pyarejan's wife Reshma. When Pyarejan learned about the affair, he demanded Rs3 lakh. Babu paid the money, but Pyarejan's demands continued.

He told the police that to put an end to Pyarejan's blackmail, he hatched a plot to kill him. He asked Pyarejan to accompany him to Thambukoppam. Babu bought a can of petrol and on reaching an isolated spot, Babu stabbed Pyarejan and doused his body with petrol and set fire to it. Babu later returned to Kolar and started staying with Reshma in her house.

The CCB police have handed him over to Andhra Pradesh police for further investigation.
