A 35-year-old homemaker was found dead in her house with multiple stab wounds in Neelasandra on Friday evening. The incident came to light at 5pm when her neighbours had called on her and found her lying in a pool of blood. The deceased has been identified as Narayanamma, a resident of Mayabazaar in Neelasandra.

He stabbed her four times on her face, six times on her head and slit her throat, said the police. The police said her husband might have killed her due to a family dispute.

The murder took place between 4pm and 5pm. Narayanamma and Lavanappa (40) got married 15 years ago. They used to have frequent disputes, which often ended up in fights, said the police.

Lavanappa has been taken into custody. He was working as housekeeper, but for the past one year he was unemployed.

The couple has two children - a 14-year-old daughter and an eight-year-old son. Both were not at home when the incident took place, said the police.

The postmortem will be carried out on Saturday. Viveknagar police have registered a case of murder.
