Five unidentified men hacked a criminal to death in JP Nagar early on Thursday morning, with the police suspecting his rivals’ hand behind the murder.

The deceased, Mico Ravi, 35, was an employee of Mico in Adugodi. A gang of five men attacked him outside his house when he returned after completing a nightshift.

The police said Ravi was walking towards his house after parking his car when the gang attacked him with machetes and other lethal weapons.

Ravi’s wife Mamata rushed to the rescue of her husband and requested the attackers to spare him but they pushed her aside.

Mamata told the police that five men attacked her husband. She said by the time Ravi was taken to a hospital, he had succumbed. A neighbour, Jagannath, said he heard cries for help and rushed out of his house, only to see a group of five men attacking Ravi.
Criminal record

The police said a rowdysheet had been opened against Ravi in Tilaknagar police station. He was involved in murder, robbery and a few theft cases in other police station limits, too.

The police said he was accused of murdering Jalli Venkatesh in 2007. He had even gone behind bars in that case, whose court proceedings were completed recently.

The police suspect Venkatesh’s gang members might have killed Ravi. The police said Aluminium Babu might have been behind the murder. The police said Ravi was working as supervisor in Mico factory and preferred nightshifts. He had shifted his house to Ragi Gudda slum in JP Nagar II Phase from Tilaknagar five months ago. He was living with his wife and two children. The body was handed over to his family after postmortem.
