A 36-year-old daily-wage labourer was killed by his father after the former assaulted his wife and parents under the influence of alcohol at his house in Vijinapura in the wee hours of Monday. Konda Raja was a labourer with the Food Corporation of India.

The incident took place at 2 am, when Raja assaulted his wife Maithili and his mother. His father, KK Das, intervened, and was physically abused. Enraged, Das smashed his son’s head with a boulder. Raja was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was declared brought dead. The police have registered a case of murder based on the complaint filed by Raja’s wife and arrested Das.  

Woman behind  son’s death
A 40-year-old daily wage labourer lost his life when his mother pushed him away and he fell on a rod, which pierced his thigh. The incident took place in Chamarajpet late on Sunday night. The police said Murugan, an alcoholic, came home drunk and had an argument with his mother Kasiamma. She pushed him and he fell on an iron rod. It pierced his thigh and he died because of excessive bleeding. The body was handed over to his family after postmortem. The police have registered a case of unnatural death.

22-yr-old killed in accident
A 22-year-old engineering student, Nikhil Narayan, died and his friend, Sagar Naidu, critically injured in an accident on Hebbal flyover on Monday when their motorcycle rammed into the flyover’s parapet. Narayan was studying at MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology. The police said the accident took place at 3 am, when the duo was returning to their house in Vidyaranyapura.

The motorcycle rammed into the flyover’s parapet and Narayan died instantly and Naidu was injured. A passer-by informed the police, who took Naidu to Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital; he is out of danger. Narayan’s body was handed over to his family after postmortem.

2 die after falling into fuel tank in Mangalore
Two men died when they fell into a tanker carrying liquid bitumen on Monday. The two -- the driver and cleaner of the tanker -- worked for a company hired by Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL).  The driver opened the tanker  and entered it unaware of the hazard. The tank released noxious gases due to the heat the driver died instantly after inhaling the fumes. In trying to help, the cleaner too entered the tank and died the same way.
