Lok Ayukta sleuths caught
a police constable red-handed while he was accepting a bribe of Rs20,000 from an auto rickshaw driver on Monday.

The tainted cop, identified as Parthasarathi, attached to Cottonpet police station, told driver Mylari he would implicate him in a false case if he did not pay him Rs2 lakh.

Mylari bargained, brought down the amount to Rs1 lakh and paid the first two instalments of Rs50,000 and Rs30,000 to Parthasarathi recently.

But when the cop started demanding the remaining amount, Mylari approached Lok Ayukta police who laid a trap and arrested Parthasarathi.

Parthasarathi has been booked under Prevention of Corruption Act and remanded to judicial custody, a press release from Lok Ayukta said.
