Baba Ramdev's followers continue to strike a militant posture

Despite the crackdown on Baba Ramdev’s protest camp in New Delhi, supporters of the yoga guru are continuing the movement in the city’s Freedom Park.

The protest at the venue gathered more support following the police action against Ramdev. On Monday, religious leaders from various mutts from Bangalore and Mysore made their way to the Freedom Park to encourage the protestors.

Swamy Shivananda from Mysore spoke about the urgent need to awaken the youth and make them understand that corruption is hindering the nation’s growth. Student union leaders too addressed the protestors and voiced their concern over corruption in the country.

“The fight against corruption is just growing by the day and the arrest of Baba (Ramdev) has indeed added fuel to the fire. The demand to pass the Jan Lokpal Bill is just reaching new heights since the Satyagraha began. I hope it gets passed soon and brings the change that we want in India,” said a protestor who did not want to be named. A constitutional experts said that Article 19/1(B) of the IPC does not encourage an armed repression against a peaceful and non-armed protest.

Many others who participated in the protest condemned the police action Baba Ramdev. The protestors were seen tying black bands to their forehead or arms. Some even covered their mouth with the band.
