AIMTC to stage protest today over hike in toll for trucks

The All India Motor Transport Congress (AIMTC) will stage a protest on Tuesday on the Bangalore-Chennai highway near Krishnagiri toll booth against the National Highways Authority of India’s decision to increase toll tax for heavy trucks.

“We are not against the toll tax. But the increase in tax from Rs2,400 to Rs3,060 for  multi-axle trucks for an up-and-down trip through this highway is just not acceptable,” said GR Shanmugappa, president of AIMTC.

There are six toll booths on this highway from Hosur at Tippli, Krishnagiri, Pallikonda, Wallajah, Vaniyambadi and Sreedhar Mayur.
