After having won the first battle in the struggle for a Jan Lokpal bill that many hope will eradicate corruption from the country, the anti-corruption brigade has vowed to escalate its movement for a cleaner society.

The next battle that these crusaders intend to fight is the Public Distribution System (PDS) and electoral reforms.

According to Anand Yadwad, volunteer with Saaku Corruption, of the two issues, the PDS will be taken up immediately. “The problems associated with the PDS are many and is especially of concern because it is the poor who really need it. That is just not fair,” he said, adding that “it was a long pending process”.

He added that the process would begin this month itself.

“We intend to conduct a pilot study in two places in Bangalore South. We will begin with a social audit and study how much of the products actually reach the people. We also intend to study the quality of the products that are supplied to them,” he said.
