Admonished by Advani, BSY talks of a makeover in 3 months

Taking serious note of the veteran BJP leader, LK Advani’s dissatisfaction with his government, chief minister BS Yeddyurappa on Monday said that he would work intensely to restore his own image and that of his government within three months.

“Advani is a veteran leader of our party. He commands respect on par with Atal Bihari Vajpayee. What all advice he has given me will be implemented in full and there will be change in the next three months. My party and I will have an image makeover in this period,” Yeddyurappa told reporters on the sidelines of a function.
He also said that he would adhere to all the corrective measures suggested by the BJP veteran in the next three months.

It may be recalled that Advani had during a recent visit to the city, to inaugurate the new BJP state office, had exhorted upon his party leaders to maintain a clean slate while taking on the corruption in the UPA government at the Centre. He had also advised the BJP leaders to take adequate caution to ensure that fingers were not pointed at them.

In the wake of Advani’s Chennai remarks, the chief minister has decided to soon convene a meeting of his ministers and ask them to be more responsive to the needs of the people and the party.
As part of the image makeover exercise, Yeddyurappa is likely to go on a state-wide tour and strengthen the party base. However, his immediate plans are to implement the budgetary promises.

As both houses of the legislature have approved the Appropriation Bill, the administration has been directed to execute the schemes.
Yeddyurappa is also expected to hold regular meetings with ministers and put a full stop to the Operation Lotus and poaching of opposition party MLAs. He is soon expected go to Delhi to hold talks with Advani and other senior leaders to sort out the issues.
