KR Puram police, in a swift move, rescued a doctor, who was abducted by a gang, within 24 hours of his abduction.

The police arrested Imran alias Irshad, 20, a native of Hariyana, Javeed, 22 and Shabbir, 30, for abducting the doctor. The trio abducted Dr Shankar, of Shankar Nursing Home in Basavanapura around 11.30pm on February 11. They demanded Rs50 lakh for ransom. Shankar’s brother Suresh, a resident of Kolar, filed a complaint in KR Puram police station.

The police traced the trio from the mobile number they called. The location of the caller was traced to Hodal taluk, Palval district in Haryana.

A team lead by police inspector VK Vasudeva Nayak was rushed to Hodal. Meanwhile, the abductors changed five locations before being pinned down on Mathura-Aagra main road.

While being chased by the police, the abductors fired at the police vehicle.

“The abductors fired two times from a country made pistol and they were caught after the exchange of fire,” said inspector Vasudev.

On February 11, Irshad called Shankar and told that his father was sick and needed treatment at his place. When Shankar went to the address, the trio abducted him, police said.
