Record holders show off their extraordinary skills during the launch of India book of records 2012.

It was a record-breaking afternoon on Thursday at Cunningham Road. Sevenraj aka Number Seven, who wore his unique red and white attire, Regret Iyer with his passbook-sized Kannada magazine and 375 regret letters, Rahul Manjunath, an eight-year-old walking ‘computer’ and such record-holders demonstrated their extraordinary acts at the launch of India Book of Records 2012.

The event also made its way to the Asia Book of Records as the book was launched simultaneously in 12 cities.  To commemorate the day, the top 120 record holders of the country were felicitated in various cities.

Guinness World record holder Biswaroop Roy Chowdhury, the chief editor of India Book of Records, has been working on this book since 2004.

The book comprises various categories of records like human body, biggest and smallest, strange but true, creativity, science and technology and others, portraying the extraordinary acts of the citizens.

Few of the top record-holders from Bangalore also amused the onlookers. Riffin T Sanjeev found his place in the book for being the youngest paleontologist with a 64-million-year-old fossil.
While Abhinandan Sadalge made a record for executing 1321 cartwheels in a row, Abner Immanuel Carlos could recognise scales of 42 songs out of 46 songs played in one minute.

Guinness World Record holder Dr John Ebnezar, who has won the title for ‘Most books written in a Year’, and RBVC Associates, which  created a 1,31000sq ft  banner shaped like India’s geographic outline, were also felicitated on the occasion.

Professor Dr S Ramesh Babu was awarded the Lifetime Achievement award for holding 40 world records, including two Guinness World records and nine National records.

The 54-year-old, who said age is no bar for achievements, is looking forward to his 42nd record soon.
