The RSS leaders’ blunt talk seems to have had its effect on the BJP leaders. The trinity of the BJP leaders, former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa, state BJP president KS Eshwarappa and chief minister DV Sadananda Gowda, who refused to see eye-to-eye until recently, are now preparing for a yatra together.
Yeddyurappa, who planned to go on a state-wide tour after January 15 if his demand for reinstatement as the chief minister was not met, has been forced to give up his plans, at least, for now.
“We have realised our mistakes. All the differences in the party have been ironed out. The RSS leaders have asked us to sink our differences and work to strengthen the party and bring the BJP back to power in the next general election. We will follow their advice,” said Eshwarappa on Thursday.
Eshwarappa announced that he, along with Yeddyurappa and Gowda, would launch a three-day state-wide yatra after January 15 to strengthen the party and convey the message to the party cadre and people that the BJP leadership is united.
He said their differences had been resolved. Eshwarappa admitted that a verbal war between the two had not only affected the functioning of the two leaders, but also hit the morale of the party leaders and cadres.
While Eshwarappa presented an optimistic picture for the BJP, the silence of Yeddyurappa continues to worry the party leaders.
Leader of the opposition in legislative assembly, Siddaramaiah, said the truce would be temporary and one should not be surprised if Yeddyurappa roars again within a week, demanding the chief minister’s post.
Siddaramaiah said it is not so easy to force Yeddyurappa to give up his ambitions to become the chief minister again.
He accused the government as the worst he
had seen as internal squabbles within the party had led to total collapse of administration.
