What is the easiest way to achieve a cent per cent result if you happen to run a college? Is it through high quality teaching? Excellent infrastructure? Or it is through good syllabus? The answer, for some colleges, does not lie in the above. Their mantra for a 100% result is simple: have as few students on the rolls as possible.

The recently declared II PU results revealed that many colleges in the state had less than 10 students on their rolls. Around 17 colleges have achieved cent per cent results in the II PUC results declared on Tuesday. And this has drawn the ire of the state education minister who has vowed to take action against such schools.

“I will meet department officials next week and take a decision on what action can be taken against these colleges,” said primary and secondary education minister Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri.
The minister has already said that action would be taken against the colleges which fared miserably with a 0% pass.

Among the cent per cent achievers, five are government PU colleges, two aided, nine unaided and one bifurcated.

For example, Kenshree PU College, a private unaided institution in the city, had just two students taking the exam. The college scored a 100% pass, which meant that both the students had successfully cleared the exams. “It is not a great task to give 100% results keeping two students. One can be proud about a college that scores 100% pass with at least 100 students in its ranks,” a department official said.
