Brief relief from heavy rains

Moderate rains were reported from several pockets in state except four places in South Gujarat region. Choryasi of Surat district received 201mm, Chikhli 133 mm, Jalalpor 105mm and Navsari received 103mm rain.

The flood-like situation in many parts of the state is likely to recede with Wednesday remaining comparatively dry. While heavy rains have reduced since Tuesday afternoon across the state, no rain was reported from Ahmedabad on Wednesday. Yet the control room of the civic body received 11 waterlogging and tree uprooting complaints each. 

Moderate rains were reported from several pockets in state except four places in South Gujarat region. Choryasi of Surat district received 201mm, Chikhli 133 mm, Jalalpor 105mm and Navsari received 103mm rain. 

Met department says intensity of rains is likely to reduce but there is a possibility of moderate showers with isolated heavy spells only for the next two or three days. Thereafter, the depression which was over Odisha coast is likely to weaken gradually into a well-marked low pressure area and move westward towards Gujarat. On account of this, by July 23, a fresh spell of heavy to extremely heavy rain is expected in state. 

For city, Thursday is likely to be cloudy with possibility of light rain. The maximum temperature is expected to remain around 32 degree Celsius and minimum around 26 degree Celsius. Two rickety building were demolished by the engineering department as a safety measure on Wednesday.
