The Indian Wells tournament is one of the most important tournaments in the Tennis Hard Court season. Serena Williams won in 2001 but in that tournament, her father was accused of match-fixing and there were racial slurs directed at her and her father. The racism that she received on that day forced he to skip the event for 17 years. In 2018, her boycott of the Indian Wells open finally ended and she participated in that event. When she came out on court, she got a standing ovation and by this reception, she was moved to tears. (Image credit: Twitter)

Serena Williams' greatness is enhanced by the fact that she has also done brilliantly in the Olympics. Of course, sports like football and tennis do not view the Olympics highly but people who participate in the games give it their all. Serena Williams is the only player in history to have three doubles gold medal in Sydney 2000, Beijing 2008 and London 2012. It was in the same London 2012 Olympics that she also secured the singles gold medal, thus completing the golden Grand Slam in both doubles and singles. (Image credit: Twitter)

However, winning the Australian Open 2017 and her 23rd Grand Slam was NOT the greatest achievement actually. She had won the Australian Open title when she was already nine weeks pregnant. Later on in the year, she would be blessed with a baby girl Olympia. Her strength and her character shone through on that day in Melbourne and it stamped her greatness in tennis history.
