They treat us like dogs, we arrest our own fans

Reader Parull Isharani narrates experiences of Indians down under

When in Sydney, I was spat on and called a dog. They told me to get out of their country as I was a ‘bloody Indian.’

Indians I knew were asked to get out by a waiter, because they didn’t know that it was a sit-down place where they needed to pay first and would then only be served.

I shouldn’t even start talking about the services offered by the hosts and hostesses working for a reputed Australian airline. I know of Indian students in Australia who are ill treated by locals from time to time and can’t do anything about it because they are only students, and foreigners at that.

Why is it that all these things are acceptable to us Indians? But when Indians fans make fun of an Australian cricketer known for his bad behaviour, they get pulled up by our very own cops. Even Andrew Symonds wouldn’t have cared about the incident too much. What is all this blah about arresting fans who come to cheer for the Indian cricket team?
