Administration is on high alert as Cyclone Michaung is anticipated to make landfall between Nellore and Machilipatnam in Andhra Pradesh. A series of precautionary measures have been taken across the region. As per IMD, the cyclone will intensify gradually and move nearly northwards and cross the south AP coast between Nellore and Machilipatnam close to Bapatla during the forenoon of Dec 05 as a Severe Cyclonic Storm. An orange alert has been sounded for Andhra Pradesh and adjoining north Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coasts. Notably on December 04, Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to the Chief Ministers of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry over cyclone ‘Michaung’ and assured all possible support from the Central government.
