Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday, November 14 celebrated Diwali with the Indian army at the Longewala in Jaisalmer.

While speaking to the Jawans, the PM hailed the Indian army for guarding the borders of the country and said that the nation is proud of the strength and bravery of their soldiers. 

He further said, "Whether you live on the snowy hills or in the desert, my Diwali is completed by coming between you. I see the beauty of your faces, see the happiness on your face, then I am doubly happy".

PM Modi called upon the youth of the country to build themselves for the army while adding that in recent times, many start-ups have come forward to cater to the needs of the forces. 

The Prime Minister also spoke on the enhanced role of women in the Indian army and how the efforts are being taken to reduce dependency on imports of weapons.

In a veiled attack on China, PM Modi said that expansionist ideas of some countries are creating trouble for the entire world and India is confronting it with great strength. 

Last year too the Prime Minister had visited Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district to celebrate Diwali with the army.
