Srinagar is facing a harsh winter this year. The city recorded its coldest night in many years, as the temperature dropped down to minus 8.4 degree Celsius on Thursday (January 14). The lowest temperature ever recorded in Srinagar was minus 14.4 degree Celsius and that was recorded in 1893.
Like Srinagar, the rest of the Kashmir valley is facing the impact of the bitter cold as well. Lakes and water bodies froze over as the temperatures plummeted and tourist spots like Gulmarg and Pahalgam also shivered.
