The Indian Esports gamers are booming as to which game should they choose - PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) Mobile or Fearless And United – Guards (FAU-G).

The year 2020 was spent by the players anticipating the launch of the two-game in India. Now with FAU-G, finally launched on Tuesday (January 26), there have been several comparisons between the two titles.

One main being that FAU-G was announced days after PUBG Mobile was banned in India citing the border issues between India and China and the former has been perceived as an alternate, if not a rival.

While the developers of the game nCore clarified that FAU-G is not a direct competitor to PUBG, the resemblance in the name cannot be overlooked.

With the similarities and comparisons, a look at the major differences between the two games.

1. Game Modes

Game Modes

FAU-G is a totally different game than PUBG due to the modes on offer. While PUBG was an out and out battle royale games, FAU-G lists three different modes 'Tales from The Galwan Valley', 'Team Deathmatch' and 'Free for All'.

One of the reasons behind PUBG's success was how it allowed users to enter the arena individually, in teams of two or four. The rest of the game depended on the actions you take individually.

On the other hand, out of FAU-G lists of three different modes, only the first is available for play and it is a single-person campaign mode that takes you through a pre-defined storyline. This restricts one's gaming experience. The 'Free for All' mode would mostly be FAU-G's battle royale.

2. Gameplay

FAU-G's characters in the campaign mode engage in hand-to-hand combat to take down enemies and also use weapons like spiked bats, axes. The reason being as the forces are not allowed to use guns in the Galwan valley due to an agreement between India and China, the game also doesn’t feature them.

However, there is a button to unleash attacks. A player can't command the character to use fists or to kick the opponent as everything happens on its own. The animations are automatically decided as there are no special moves either.

The movement of the characters is also uni-directional so they can't crouch or jump or sprint. The character cannot even hide or plan strategic attacks.

As for PUBG, the game offers a lot of different ways to engage in combat as the players can choose from a range of weapons from different categories including guns, knife, bombs etc. The users could also hide inside houses, or behind rocks to sight and kill their opponents.

While PUBG has explored different locations, the entire story of FAU-G is planned within the Galwan valley.

3. Sound

The sound that plays a major role in any game is the key differences between the PUBG and FAU-G. While PUBG allowed users to talk to their teammates and plan attacks, FAU-G doesn’t have that option.

4. Availability

The main advantage for FAU-G over PUBG is the game's availability. The game is available for download in India while the chances of PUBG's comeback are decreasing. This will gives FAU-G developers a window to work on the already available features and launch new modes.

5. 3 lakh downloads on Google Play Store

FAU-G was finally launched after months of speculation on Republic Day 2021 and the first episode was available on Google Play Store. Within 24 hours, there have been close to three lakh downloads.

There have been plenty of five-star ratings but there have also been many one-star ratings of the first episode in FAUG.

While many of the users gave five-star ratings to the game, they stressed several themes like additional graphics, fewer features, glitches in maps and other aspects of the game.

However, there was support for the game as well with some users stating that this was only the first step in FAU-G and that later updates would be much better.

FAU-G is expected to come up with more updates and the gaming environment as well as graphics is all set to improve in the coming versions.

FAU-G is one of the Make In India games that has been marketed as the rival of PUBG Mobile India, who face an uncertain future about their comeback following the Government of India staying the ban on PUBG Mobile and other 58 Chinese apps.
