Ex-RJ Mihir Joshi in cyber space

Mihir Joshi has long been known as Music Man Mihir thanks to his popular show on radio where he played international music. But with the ouster of international music from radio and the end of his show, Mihir decided to do things differently. His online website is now a popular place for music fans to check out their favourite songs and their videos on the MJ show.

“After leaving radio, a few months ago, I kept getting requests from a lot of my regular listeners and fans to get back on the radio. But since there’s no English music out there anymore, that wasn’t an option.  So I thought why not use another medium to do what I used to love doing on radio,” says Mihir.

That’s how the MJ show happened online where Mihir plays a variety of international music.  “It’s got all the aspects that a real show had — regular listeners, requests, guests, and contests,” says Mihir.

He has also been doing guest series where celebs interact with the listeners on the show. Ehsaan Noorani, Miss Malini (Malini Agarwal) and Luke Kenny have been on his show recently. “I ask them to send me a list of their top 10 songs or more and tell me why they like these numbers. It is fun when others come on the show, play their favourite music and share their stories with listeners,” he says.

Mihir is planning to add another new element to his show in the coming days.  He wants to put up live recorded shows with Indian bands, musicians and actors, where he’ll talk to them about music.

Though the show is his prime passion right now, Mihir has been dabbling in various other things like his rock band The Works and his solo music.
