Nike have officially unveiled the orange jersey which India will be wearing in the game against England on Sunday.
It is finally here! The long-awaited away jersey for Indian cricket team has been unveiled. Nike, the official apparel sponsor of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), announced on Friday that the Indian team will debut its first ever ‘Away Kit’ in Birmingham on 30th June 2019 for their match against England.
The away kit will feature Orange and Blue colours.
“Team India will debut its first-ever Away Kit in Birmingham on 30th June 2019. The ODI and Away Kit designs launched this year are inspired by the young new generation of India and the fearless spirit of the national teams," it said.
The ICC had introduced the concept of away kits, akin to football, so as there aren’t any similarities in jersey colours between opposition teams. England and India have similar shades of blue jerseys and with England being the home team, India will have to wear the alternate kit on 30th June.

According to Nike, Similar to the recently launched ODI Kit, the away kit is designed to enhance dynamic movements and modern requirement of the sport and the athletes.
"While the new engineered mesh and strategically placed sweat zones help enhanced breathability for the team on the field, new placket construction, the flex crest, garment cut angles and slash taping all add to making the new jersey lighter, more breathable and helps the athletes be agile on the field."
"The new total orange and blue colored Away Kits also moves away from a traditional silhouette to using new innovative cut lines alongside dynamic material combinations to emphasize a Multi-dimensional Slash Design and Movement approach," Nike said in a statement.
2. India to wear Orange jersey on June 30 against England

India will wear their orange jersey for their match against England on June 30. Virat Kohli's men will be wearing the orange coloured jerseys with the splattering of blue in that match as it is their away game. England and India both have blue kits and as England are hosting the World Cup, it is India who will play in their away kits.
3. There have been controversy over orange jersey

There has been a controversy over the colour of the away kit. In India, some have argued against using the colour orange as it is associated with a particular political party. However, others have called it a 'silly' outrage saying it's just a colour and people should enjoy the sport.
"Let me tell you the design (orange) is taken from India's old T20 jersey which had orange in it. Team outfit designers in the US designed this new jersey keeping in mind that fans should be able to identify the Indian team with it," was what a BCCI insider had revealed.
