England cricketers are very lucky as far as the support of their wives and girlfriends is concerned as they are always seen in full force cheering their partners in the stadiums. "Behind every successful man, there's a woman," is a famous and very true quote and fits very well with the men's English cricket team.
Being a partner of an international cricket player has its own sets of challenges, apart from the obvious rewards as the personal life of the cricketers and their families take a backseat as from weddings to family functions and events, everything is structured around cricket schedules and tours. Carrie Cottrell was working at a bar in Leeds, where Root plays for Yorkshire County when both met each other and started dating in 2014. Root proposed to Carrie before the 2016 T20 World Cup and both got married in Sheffield, his hometown in 2018 in a beautiful church ceremony.
