Pakistan staged late comebacks in both innings but it was not enough to deny Australia a 41-run win in their ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 encounter on Wednesday. David Warner was the star for Australia with his 15th ODI century as Pakistan bowlers fought back their best with the ball and later with the bat as well.

Warner was not his usual destructive self but effective nevertheless scoring his first international century since completing the ball-tampering ban. Australia looked set for a total in excess of 350 while Warner and captain Aaron Finch (82) were at the crease, but Mohammad Amir (5/30) staged a grand comeback with his best ODI bowling figures to bowl their opponents out for 307.

Pakistan's innings ended at 266 in 45.4 overs but not before the duo of Sarfaraz Ahmed and Wahab Riaz gave the Australians a scare with a rearguard action that revived their hopes for a while. Pakistan were at one stage tottering at 160 for six in the 30th over.

During Pakistan's chase for target score, a sad and disheartened Pakistani fan was spotted looking over his side for their poor show on the field. Many people on Twitter noticed it and turned his reaction into a meme and it started circulating on social media in no time.

Even the ICC's official Twitter account shared this GIF of the fan showing his undisputed frustration towards his team'ss batting collapse.

Sitting pretty at 189 for two in the 29th over, Smith tried to up the ante but in doing so, ended up giving a catch to Asif Ali, who had dropped a sitter in the slips earlier at The Cooper Associates County Ground.

Glenn Maxwell struck 20 in 10 balls even as Warner reached the three-figure mark when an edge flew between the keeper and the wide slip for a four. He got out shortly after celebrating his century with gusto.

The show, then, belonged to Amir.

For Australia, Pat Cummins was the most successful bowler with figures of 3/33 while there two wickets apiece for Mitchell Starc and Kane Richardson
