Take a breath! Bollywood's most eligible bachelor Salman Khan was once all set to tie to experience marital bliss. The tale narrates back to the 90s when Salman Khan was madly and deeply in love with Sangeeta Bijlani (or so it appeared).
However, as twisted turn of cruel fate had its ways, Salman Khan and Sangeeta Bijlani, who were engaged and reportedly also on the verge of distributing their wedding cards, called off their wedding at the end moment. This happened after Sangeeta Bijlani accused him of cheating on her, as she went on to say that she saw a side to Salman Khan where she understood he wasn't capable of even being a boyfriend, let alone become her husband.
Ever since that day, despite his peers being married (some of them even married twice), Salman Khan never reached the stage of tying the nuptial knot and shuns the question away every time he is asked about the same. While it remains to be seen if Salman will finally settle down for his alleged girlfriend Iulia Vantur after gifting her a diamond ring on mother Salma Khan's advice, Salman and Sangeeta have come a long way.

That's right, Salman Khan was almost married to Sangeeta Bijlani. The much-in-love couple was engaged and ready for the nuptial knot.

27th May 1994 was going to be the day when Salman would've married Sangeeta Bijlani. In fact, it was a date Salman himself had decided for the wedding. “The marriage of May 27 was the day chosen by the Salman Khan himself because he had already been sanctioned by the family. But my family could not afford, because they wanted my happiness,” Sangeeta had said in an interview, stated Desimartini.

In fact, the wedding invitations were also printed, if few news reports are anything to go by. A biography written on Salman Khan read, “May 27, 1994, the date, which could be transformed into Salman Khan’s wedding date. If it happens then Sangeeta Bijlani becomes her wife, not the ex-girlfriend. But it did not happen.”

Salman Khan was dating a girl named Shaheen Jafri, which is when he first met Sangeeta at a Bollywood party and they instantly clicked.

The couple went through innumerable fights, which eventually led to their split. Sangeeta even openly confessed that Salman was cheating on her with Somi Ali. "A month before the wedding I felt there is something wrong. I started to follow him and found that he is not worth getting married. Not only that, but I also felt that he is not even capable of becoming a boyfriend. It was a very emotionally traumatic and terrible experience," added Sangeeta.

Sangeeta later got married to former cricketer Mohammed Azharuddin. They are now divorced. She is currently quite close to Salman Khan and the 'Khan'daan.
