Anushka Sharma-Virat Kohli: From no marriage proposal to zero helping staff, lesser-known facts about celebrity couple

Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli met each other in 2013 when they worked together for a TV commercial. And, it did not take too long for the sparks to fly. Soon enough, news about the two dating each other also started doing the rounds.

In order to make the first move, Virat, who confessed to having been nervous to be shooting with Anushka for their first commercial in an earlier interview,  awkwardly commented on the actress's heels to break the ice. Virat had revealed in 2019 how his nervousness got the better of him that day. The cricketer spoke about how Anushka had been told that he wasn't tall, in comparison to her, and that she must not wear high heels. Accordingly, Anushka turned up wearing very short heels. But to a nervous Virat, even that seemed a lot. In nervousness, thinking it would break the ice, he ended up cracking a silly joke and said as to why didn't she think of wearing a taller pair of heels!

During his South Africa tour in January 2014, when team India arrived at the Mumbai airport, Virat Kohli, instead of going with the rest of the cricket team, went to Anushka Sharma's apartment. The fact that the two started following each other on social media was also noted. The Bollywood actress also visited Virat during India's tour to New Zealand in 2014. In fact, Virat was also in the news as he gave a surprise visit to Anushka in Sri Lanka, while she was there busy shooting for her film, Bombay Velvet. He was again seen visiting Anushka on the sets, this time in Udaipur while she was shooting for Aamir Khan-starrer PK, to celebrate her 26th birthday. All of these visits added fuel to the fire, and articles of them dating started doing the rounds.

Yes, Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma had called it quits in 2016 when reportedly Virat wanted to settle down and get married while Anushka wanted to focus on her career. The two had unfollowed each other on social media as well. However, that's not it. A source was quoted telling BollywoodLife.com back then that the couple had actually parted ways. Also, some news portals reported that Anushka’s sexy photoshoot for a men’s magazine cover did not go well with Virat, leading the way for their break up. 

Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli had split, but love beckoned and the duo followed each other back on social media. Virat was seen receiving Anushka at the airport and also as the cricketer’s date at his 28th birthday party.

Unlike the fairytale-like proposals that some get, neither Virat nor Anushka formally proposed each other ever. One thing led to another and the two were even married without formally asking the significant other. After years of dating, the two finally tied the knot in 2017. 

Anushka Sharma loves Virat Kohli’s beard and is totally against his clean-shaven look. 

Singers Harshdeep Kaur and Mohan Kannan sang the song 'Peer Vi Tu' at Virat and Anushka's wedding. It was an original track to be played during the ceremony.

Reportedly, Virat and Anushka have zero helping staff. They do all the household chores themselves. "At his home, there are no servants. He and his wife will serve food to everyone. What else do you want? Virat always sits with you, chats with you, and goes out for dinner with you. All the other players have so much respect for him. He's very down-to-earth and strong-willed," Former India cricketer and national selctor Sarandeep had told Sportskeeda.
