Some months ago, she had set up a Twitter account in the name of their pet border terrier, Maggie, who tweeted such pearls as “Kate Middleton’s dog is stealing my column inches. This has not gone unnoticed, and I’ll step out without underwear tomorrow to compensate.
In some ways, it is pertinent that she tweeted about Duchess Kate, as she shares several traits with the Royal not least the long glossy hair and careful combination of high street and designer clothes.
She is also an arch monarchist and an easy-going, popular girl who provides a rock for her high-profile partner, the Daily Mail reported.
Kim, the daughter of tennis coach Nigel Sears, met Murray at the 2005 US Open when she was just 17 and studying for her A levels in drama, music and art. She subsequently got straight 'A's and went on to study English Literature at the University of Sussex in Brighton.
She is also a talented artist and has a website, Brushes and Paws, about her pet portraits.
But while no one doubts her abilities, she is still best known as ‘Andy Murray’s girlfriend’ – another parallel with the Duchess of Cambridge, who struggled to carve out a role before her marriage.
At the beginning of this year’s Wimbledon, the tennis player admitted that Kim was one of the very few people he spent time with during the tournament.
In November 2009, the pressure led to the couple splitting up but they reconciled after seven months as Murray reportedly realised he could not live without her.
