Your thoughts on the Champions League T20…
It is a very good concept. It’s a global franchise tournament. It is an exciting part of the cricketing landscape. It is a pathway for young Indian players to take part in a global tournament, ahead of international commitment. It’s a good learning curve. I think it will be a great tournament. This is a great opportunity for young players from Australia and other countries to make a mark. Everyone is aware that it is one last chance to play in a tournament like IPL.

You might be playing for the last time as a unit. Can it be motivating?
The fact that we might be playing for the last time is a great motivating factor. The IPL teams came a cropper in the first edition of the tournament. I cannot talk about last year but Chennai Super Kings will do well in the tournament this time around. We have the right combination with superb international flavour. Besides us, the Australian teams will be very strong. Victoria (Bushrangers), in particular, are a very good side. I will also not rule out the Mumbai (Indians) side. So for me, Victoria, Mumbai and Chennai are the three dark horses of the tournament. Some adjustments will have to be made. I am confident we will be able to do that this time.

You might be playing for Chennai for the last time...
As far as I’m concerned, I feel Chennai is my second home. I have not thought of playing for any other team. Playing for another side will be like playing for New South Wales and not my home team Queensland. I’m looking to continue with Chennai. I have a great sense of attachment and loyalty for Chennai and I think I have done my bit to the brand-building of Super Kings. Things may change but Chennai is where my heart is.
