On Wednesday, Gautam Gambhir made full use of his local knowledge to trounce hosts Delhi Daredevils by eight wickets at Ferozeshah Kotla ground to end Kolkata Knight Riders' four-match losing streak.

Chasing 161, skipper Gambhir along with opening partner Robin Uthappa put up a 106-run stand. Gambhir stayed till the end scoring a 39-ball half-century and fell only when his team was 10 runs short of victory.

The Delhi batsmen lacked momentum despite knocks from JP Duminy (40*) and Dinesh Karthik (36) who also hit an unorthodox scoop off Kallis for a six over fine-leg.

Brief scores: DD 160/5 in 20 overs (J Duminy 40*, D Karthik 36) lost to KKR 161/2 in 18.2 overs (G Gambhir 69, R Uthappa 47; W Parnell 2/21) by eight wickets
