The (Johan) Cruyff Foundation of Netherlands has entered into a partnership with Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA) to set up a specially designed court adjacent the St Xavier's football ground in Parel, Central Mumbai, to encourage children to play.

"The Cruyff Courts provide a safe place where children can play football. But they are designed to be much more than just a football pitch," said a media release on Monday.

"This will be fourth Cruyff Court in Asia along with the first one built in Kanazawa, Japan in 2012, followed by the second in Iskandar, Malaysia in 2012 and the third one in Kuala Lumpur in 2013. In total there are 195 Cruyff Courts in the world with 33 outside of The Netherlands," the release added.
