England cricket team coach Peter Moores has backed new skipper Eoin Morgan to drive the changed mindset of the team in the upcoming World Cup as well as the ODI tri-series against Australia and India.

Moores claimed that England would adopt a positive approach and cast off the shackles at the World Cup under new skipper Morgan, before the squad flew out to Australia.

The England and Wales Cricket Board's (ECB) decision to sack Alastair Cook as the squad's ODI captain last month followed a dire 5-2 series defeat in Sri Lanka and Moores believes that the change of skipper would help change the mindset, Stuff.co.nz reported.

The coach said that they have got to a position where it felt like it was the right thing to do, adding that it was a braver decision to change it. He said that he is comfortable with that and believes that they have got the right people on the plane.

Moores claimed that they moved their game in Sri Lanka, adding that there was a change of mindset and Eoin would continue to drive that.

Moores insisted that the new skipper has a good cricket brain and it would be exciting to work with him. He said that Morgan has a strong desire to show how well England can play.

Middle-order batsman Morgan would lead England in Pool A against Australia, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Scotland when the tournament begins next month, the report added.
