Pokemon Go will reach 200 countries "relatively soon"

According to recent reports, Nintendo is planning to take Pokemon Go live in 200 countries “relatively soon”.

Niantic’s lead developer, the studio behind the Pokemon Go app, told Reuters that the company is working on boosting their servers in preparation for a gradual worldwide rollout. “Why limit it?” Niantic Chief Executive John Hanke told the agency during an interview Friday.

So far, the augmented reality game has been released in the US, Australia, New Zealand, the UK, and Germany. Hanke declined to provide an exact timeline for the rollouts, but did point out that their last AR game, Ingress, took almost two months to reach that number of markets.

Hanke did confirm that the game would soon be coming to Japan and that he eventually even expects to see a South Korea launch, noteworthy because of the server restrictions placed on Google’s mapping service, thanks to security issues with North Korea.
