Using the opportunity of the rollout of the first indigenous Metro train manufactured in his state, chief minister Narendra Modi on Friday sought to send a message to the Centre, "A Made in Gujarat is going to Delhi."

In what is seen as a loaded quip, Modi's comment in the backdrop of the failed bid of BJP to come to power at the Centre drew a loud applause from the gathering at the launch function and followed it up with another remark, "I can assure you that the train made in Gujarat can become a cause of huge worry in Delhi."

After a pause following the applause for his one-liner, Modi said " My dear journo friends, I have not said anything further. You should ask people as to why they are clapping."

Bombardier Transportation India(BTI) rolled out the first train from  its manufacturing unit in Savli in Vadodara.

The sleek four-coach train--Bombardier Movia--is the first metro train to be manufactured for the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation(DMRC) and was handed over to its chief E Sreedharan.

At the function, Modi made a plea for inclusion of running a bullet train between Ahmedabad and Mumbai in the next railway budget.

"Gujarat is ready to give all assistance for running the bullet train," he said, adding that the state government has already sent its proposal to the Centre in this regard long time ago and that it was for them to take a decision.
