Fifteen years after abduction of her businessman son and son-in-law allegedly by a top cop and his associates, a 92-year-old woman is still fighting an arduous battle to get the wheel of justice move faster to know the whereabouts of the victims.

For Amar Kaur, it is virtually her last wish to see that her tormentors are behind bars.

The CBI filed a charge sheet against the accused-- Punjab police director (Vigilance) Sumedh Singh Saini, retired superintendent of Police SS Sandhu and former DSP of Mohali Paramjit Singh and Inspector Balbir Chand Tiwari-- but is still clueless about the victims' whereabouts.

The premier investigating agency of the country has admitted that it was not able to press charge under Section 302 (murder) against the accused as the bodies of the son and son-in-law have not been traced.

The case relating to abduction of Kaur's son Vinod Kumar, son-in-law Ashok Kumar and driver Mukhtiyar Singh was registered in March, 1994.

Kaur has moved an application for expediting the trial before a fast track court. Her plea is fixed for hearing on Monday.

According to the CBI, the victims were allegedly abducted by the accused from Ludhiana on March 15, 1994. The accused have denied their involvement in the case.

"Witnesses have a very uncertain life span and it will lead to travesty of justice if they die without their evidence having been recorded. It would not be out of place to mention that three witnesses have already passed away without having an opportunity to depose," the nonagenarian stated in her application before the trial court.

Kaur had last appeared before the court in July 2008 on a wheel-chair to record her statement.

When she started making statement, she was barely audible, making the judge to leave the dais and come down to hold the court and record her version.

Kaur, a resident of South Extension in the capital, had told the court that she used to reside in Ludhiana in 1994, when the fateful incident had happened.

The case was transferred to the CBI for investigation by Punjab and Haryana High Court about 12 days after the incident on March 24, 1994. The probe agency had filed charge sheet on the matter in May 2000.

Since no charges could be framed against the accused despite 41 hearings at the Ambala court, the matter was transferred to Delhi by the Supreme Court in 2004.

The Delhi court had framed charges of criminal conspiracy and kidnapping against accused Saini and others in January, 2007.
