President Pratibha Patil congratulates Obama

President Pratibha Patil has congratulated US president Barack Obama on his assumption of office and expressed the hope that New Delhi and Washington will continue to work towards international peace and stability.

Conveying her good wishes and those from the government and people of India, Patil in her message to Obama said, "I am confident that under Obama's leadership, India-US partnership will be further strengthened.

"Both the countries will continue to work together on issues of commonalities in our vision for our people and for international peace and stability," Patil said.

President Patil also invited the US president and the first lady - Michelle Obama - to visit India.
