NEW DELHI: Suspected terrorist Mohammad Saif, who was arrested on Friday following a gun battle in south Delhi, is not a student of Jamia Milia Islamia University, varsity officials said on Saturday.

"It's an inaccurate information doing the rounds that he (Saif) is a student of Jamia Milia. We have checked and cross checked our facts and despite confirming that again and again, these false stories are being created," Rakshanda Jalil, chief spokesperson of the university, said.

Police on Saturday said Saif, the arrested suspected member of the Indian Mujahideen terror module, had confessed to the group's involvement in the Sep 13 Delhi blasts, in the July 26 Ahmedabad bombings and the May 13 Jaipur bombings.

However, in response to some of the media reports that Saif was a student of computer science at the Jamia Milia Islamia university, the official said that this was not true.
