PANAJI: Goa Chief Minister Digamber Kamat on Saturday said he is not bothered about any kind of instability over his government.

"I am not bothered whether my government is stable or not. I will deliver as far as I continue to be the chief minister," Kamat said reacting to the possibility of coup against him.

"You can see me... I am not disturbed," the CM said. Kamat, who will be completing a year as chief minister on June 6, has already faced two toppling attempts - in July last year and January this year.

He has survived both the attempts and rumours of toppling the government remained throughout last year.

In July last year, BJP-led Goa Democratic Alliance (GDA) was formed and they made an attempt to topple the government. The attempt was foiled after disqualification petitions were moved against rebel legislators.

Yet another attempt was made in January, this year, when NCP-led legislators withdrew support to the government. This time, too, Kamat managed to retain his chair with the help of party high command.

Last week, a high profile meeting of legislators in Mumbai had sparked off another possibility of coup against Kamat.

While many legislators including independent MLA Vishwajeet Rane has made public statement supporting Congress-led coalition, the possibilities of toppling bid have not been not ruled out.

The anguish against finance minister Dayanand Narvekar for not clearing files seems to have snowballed into a toppling bid as many ministers have demanded that he be stripped of the finance department.

Induction of United Goans Democratic party (UGDP) legislator Atanasio Monserratte will also be a crucial for the government.

The chief minister will have to drop a Congress minister from his cabinet to accommodate Monserratte.

Sources confirmed that Monserratte has been pressing hard to get cabinet berth with the Congress high command, which may spark off political uncertainty in the state.
