MP govt declares June 11 as local holiday for polls

BHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh government has declared June 11 as local holiday in the areas where elections and by-elections of panchayats and civic bodies are going to be held, an official release said.
    
Elections would be held on June 11 for Malajkhand Municipal Council in Balaghat district and Jaura Nagar Pancayat in Morena district. The state government has declared local holiday in both these towns.
    
Simultaneously, instructions have been issued to extend facilities to government employees for exercising their franchise, the release added.
    
The state election commission is conducting by-election for one ward corporator each in 13 civic bodies in nine districts.
    
These included Rewa Municipal Corporation, Nagar Panchayats of Teonthar, Maoganj and Hanumna Nagar, Damoh Municipal Council, Shivpur Municipal Council, Shahdol Municial Council, Pipariya Municipal Council and Sohagpur Nagar Panchayat, Narayangarh Nagar Panchayat in Mandsaur district, Obaidullaganj Nagar Panchayat in Raisen district, Chandla Nagar Panchayat in Chhatarpur district and Akoda Nagar Panchayat in Bhind district.
