Shekhawat vacates Vice President's House

NEW DELHI: Bhairon Singh Shekhawat on Monday vacated the Vice President's House and shifted to Rajasthan House on the Prithviraj Road here, making way for Hamid Ansari.

Shekhawat, a former Chief Minister of the state, moved bag and baggage to the Rajasthan House on a day when his successor Ansari assumed office as the Chairman of Rajya Sabha.

Ansari is currently staying in Haryana Bhavan. Shekhawat has been allotted a bungalow on 31, Aurangzeb Road, which is under renovation.

Shekhawat had stayed at Rajasthan House after his election in 2002 as the Vice President's House was then occupied by Manju Krishan Kant, wife of the late Krishan Kant who died at the fag end of his tenure.
