MUMBAI: Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh on Saturday inspected the first of the 157 new trains being constructed for the city's suburban railway lines.
Deshmukh examined the motorman's cabin as well as the interior of a coach and was satisfied with the well-built coaches. He said it would ease the travelling woes of lakhs of daily commuters.
The trains which are being constructed in Chennai have features like blowers, better suspension and seats and a completely modern motorman's cabin.
The first train is currently undergoing tests and is expected to be on the Western Railways suburban line by October.
There was a minor scuffle between the CM's security personnel and photojournalists as the latter tried to photograph him.
However, Deshmukh later placated both sides and posed for the waiting photojournalists.
