MUMBAI: New Zealand scored a comfortable 59-run win over Baroda in a Champions Trophy cricket warm-up game at the MIG Club ground in Bandra on Friday.

New Zealand piled up 267 for eight and then restricted Baroda to 207 for nine to emerge winners.

New Zealand, without the services of skipper Stephen Fleming who was rested, were put on the road to a fighting total by Hamish Marshall (*40) and Lou Vincent (36).

Later all rounder Scott Styris, who top-scored with 52 in 55 balls with two sixes and three fours, and tail-ender Shane Bond (43 off 42 balls) helped the score along with breezy knocks.

Medium-pacer Murtuza Vohra (3-10) and left-arm spinner Vishwanath Parmar (2-31) dished out impressive displays with the ball.

Speedster Mark Gillespie struck thrice when Baroda started their run-chase to grab 3 for 19 while Bond and left arm spinner Daniel Vettori, who had rested in their previous practice tie on Thursday, claimed a wicket each.

Captain Jacob Martin (45) and opener Satyajit Parab (41) kept Baroda in the hunt, but their efforts went in vain.

Brief scores: New Zealand 267-8 off 50 overs (Lou Vincent 36, Hamish Marshall 40, Scott Styris 52, Shane Bond 43; Murtuza Vohra 3-60, Vishwanath Parmar 2-31) beat Baroda 208-9 in 50 overs (Jacob Martin 45, Satyajit Parab 41, Mark
Gillespie 3-19, Shane Bond 1-39, Daniel Vettori 1-39) by 59 runs.
