UJJAIN: Alleging that Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has deliberately tried to influence the probe into professor H S Sabharwal's death, his son on Wednesday filed a complaint against the chief minister in a local court.

The complaint by Himanshu Sabharwal was filed in the court of Judicial Magistrate Vidhi Saxena, who issued summons to the city superintendent of police, sub-divisional magistrate and a doctor of the hospital where professor Sabharwal was taken after being allegedly beaten by ABVP students on August 26 following cancellation of the student union polls at Madhav College.

The court asked the three persons to reply by September 15.

Himanshu alleged in his complaint the chief minister -- in order to influence the CID probe against former ABVP office-bearers Shashiranjan Akela and Vimal Tomar, who have been arrested, and other suspects -- had described Sabharwal's death as an "accident" and not a murder.

The complaint was registered under various sections of the IPC for allegedly influencing the investigation.
