MUMBAI: Security continues to remain on a high alert at city's Chhatrapati Shivaji international and domestic airports against the backdrop of exposure of a disruptive plan at London's Heathrow airport.

The city's two airports have been on the highest 'red alert' security level ever since the July 11 serial train bomb blasts, and continues to remain so, Sanjay Prakash, senior commandant of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), told PTI.

He said that security measures as regards checking of hand baggage was being done as per the advice being received from individual foreign airlines.

"Foreign airlines have their own set of regulations and whatever advices they are sending us, we are following them," he said.

These measures are apart from the routine X-ray scanning and physical checking through which baggage pieces undergo as part of the security measures, Prakash added.

According to sources, this means that if a particular airlines advices that hand baggage should not be allowed, then the CISF personnel manning the security set up will prohibit passengers accordingly.
