Three days after the spate of house break-ins in Wakad and Bavdhan, neither the Hinjewadi police nor the crime branch sleuths have managed to nab the burglars.

The Hinjewadi police have collected two closed-circuit television cameras (CCTV) camera footages from nearby commercial establishments. However, they have not found any clues so far.
The police officers claimed they have searched the slums of Pimpri and Chinchwad for slums. They have checked the whereabouts of recently arrested burglars, but in vain.

Senior police inspector PD Patil of Hinjewadi police station told dna, “After the incident, we collected CCTV camera footages from commercial shops located close to the societies, but in vain. All the footages are blurred and hence we could identity the burglars.”

Patil said they conducted combing operations in Kala Khadak, Pimpri and Chinchwad slum areas and Pimple Saudagar, but did not find any clues. “We suspect that the burglars might have come from outside area. After committing the crime, they could have left the city.”

The Hinjewadi police have gathered details of phone calls made from the area on the day of the incident.

On Wednesday, 16 flats, mostly owned by IT professionals, were targeted by the burglars while on Thursday five flats were broken into at Bavdhan. According to the police records, the burglars have stolen over Rs25 lakh worth gold ornaments and cash.

Patil said, “Apart from CCTV camera footages, we do not have any clue in the case. We have checked records of all societies, but did not find any suspicious entry. We have also interrogated security personnel of the societies, but in vain.”
