The main accused in an attempt to murder case was arrested by the Tardeo police on Sunday for allegedly trying to kill one of the managers of the Willingdon Club in Mahalaxmi.

His four accomplices were arrested about two to three days back.
Investigations revealed that the motive behind the attack, planned by one of the club’s waiters, was to avenge being sacked from the job.

The arrested people have been identified as Kiran Solanki, Manish Waghela, Dipesh alias Babu Rajesh Solanki, Hitendra alias Ravi Waghela and Rajesh alias Raja Waghela.

Kiran, a resident of Gautam Nagar, works as a waiter at the club.

The police said that the victim, Gaurav Vilas Padwal, 28, a resident of Jogeshwari, is one of the managers at the Willingdon Sports Club in Tulsiwadi at Tardeo.

“When Padwal was leaving for home on November 21 night, few unknown peple accosted him outside the club and attacked
him with a knife,” said an official from Tardeo police station.

He added that the attackers then fled the spot leaving behind a motorcycle. “Padwal was immediately rushed to a nearby private hospital, as a piece of knife had remained inside his body.

“It was later removed by the doctors. We seized the bike, which was used by the attackers and on investigating the case we came across the real culprits,” the official said.

On questioning the accused, the police learnt that Kiran worked as a waiter in the club canteen and was removed from the job for some official reason.

“He revealed that he was angry with Padwal, as the latter had sacked him, and hence he decided to teach Padwal a lesson. He, along with his friends, planned an attack on Padwal. Padwal is out of danger, according to the doctors,” said another police official.
