While millions of house hunters patiently wait for the housing lottery date to be announced, the political leadership in Mhada has decided to leave the decision of the lottery timings with the administration.

However, differences within the Congress-NCP leadership in Mhada are likely to cause trouble for the administration, which till now is tight-lipped about announcement of the date.

On Friday, after reviewing the work for all the departments in the authority, minister of state for housing Sachin Ahir said that it was his personal opinion that those houses under construction should not be sold.

“The authority is yet to hand over the occupation certificate (OC) of as many as 1,400 houses which are not ready yet. If the house hunters are given half constructed houses, it may send a very wrong signal on the part of Mhada,” said Ahir.

The top administration of Mhada were not available for comments.
