The Vasantdada Patil College of Engineering in Chunabhatti will soon face the wrath of authorities, after a students' body filed a complaint alleging that the college presented false documents to the Shikshan Shulka Samiti, which decides the fees.

Sent to the directorate of technical education (DTE), the complaint alleges that in these documents, the college claims that it runs only degree courses but in reality, it runs degree, diploma and post graduate institutes in the campus. According to All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) rules, only one institute can be run in a single building.

The letter sent to DTE states as follows: "The principal has signed a false document certifying that there are only engineering degree courses run in the college building. However, there are three institutes run simultaneously — Padmabhushan Vasantdada Patil Engineering College, Manohar Phalke Polytechnic and Vasantdada Patil institute of Management Studies."

The letter was enclosed with a photo of the institute’s entrance, which shows all the running institutes’ name on the gate, and the certificate signed by the principal contradicting it.

Rajan Raje, president of the Dharmarajya Paksha, with which the body that the student wing is attached with, said, “We are just showcasing a college that is presenting false documents and misguiding authorities to earn profits.”

The student wing has asked for a police inquiry into the case. “We are now waiting for the DTE to take action or we'll have to pressurise the authority." In spite of repeated attempts, principal KTV Reddy was unavailable for comment.
