5 schoolkids detained for performing stunt on Mumbai train

The five are studying in Sitaram Prakash Higher Secondary School in Wadala. They were set free after their parents were informed about it.

The Wadala railway police on Wednesday detained five students in school uniform for performing stunt in a Panvel- bound local between Dock Yard Road and Cotton Green railway stations on the Harbour Line.

“All the five are standard VIII students of Sitaram Prakash Higher Secondary School at Wadala. They were residents of Kidwai Nagar at Sewree, Antop Hill and Wadala. They were booked under the Juvenile Justice Act,” senior police inspector Jitendra Rathod of the Wadala railway police station said.

He added that they allowed them to go after their parents were called to railway police station and were being informed about their children’s activities on the train.

“The incident took place at around 12.30pm. Senior inspector Jitendra Rathod was traveling in the first class compartment in the Panvel- bound local from Dock Yard Road railway station, noticed that five students were performing stunt in the compartment.

Rathod told them not to perform the stunt. During preliminary inquiry, one of the boys told the police that they came to Dock Yard Road area to visit the home of one of their aunt,” said a police officer.

“The Wadala railway police have detained maximum number of 192 people, including 32 minors, for performing stunt in the local train till September 23,” said Rathod.
