A few hours after a 30-year-old woman was found murdered in Naigaon on Sunday afternoon, one more body, this time that of a watchman, was found in the night in Gokhivare village Vasai (East). He was allegedly stoned to death.
Also, the post-mortem report of a 30-year-old unidentified man, whose body was found floating in a well in Virar four days back, revealed that based on the injuries on his body he was murdered.
Giving details about the watchman’s death, the Valiv police said Ajay Paswan, 22, worked in a residential complex in the village and was found with injuries on his head, which indicated that he was stoned to death with a huge boulder and tiles.
“We are questioning his friends and family members. We suspect someone known to him killed him after a fallout or due to petty differences,” said a police officer.
“We have registered a case under section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code against unknown persons and will trace them soon,” said Rajendra Mohite, senior inspector, Valiv police station.
In the other incident involving the 30-year-old man, it has been ascertained that he was a Bolinj resident but his identity is yet to be established. The police said he was attacked by a sharp weapon and his body was dumped in order to destroy evidence.
“We have registered a case under sections 302 (murder) and 201 (destruction of evidence) of the Indian Penal Code and are trying to find out who the deceased is,” said an officer from Arnala police station.
Naigaon naked body: Cops rule out rape
A day after the naked body of a woman – with a boulder tied around her waist – was found near Naigaon bridge, the police said they have not been able to establish the identity of the deceased.
While the police initially suspected it could be a case of sexual assault, an officer said on Monday that sexual assault has been ruled out.
On Sunday afternoon, the body bearing tattoos had been spotted by residents of Naigaon.
